"The soul takes flight to the world that is invisible but there arriving she is sure of bliss and forever dwells in paradise." - Plato

The central image of this song is one of the soul rising to Heaven on the wings of a dove. This final voyage leads to realms of joy, and light and love. Here there is peace, where one can rest in the arms of loving friends.

Song is a constant companion here on earth (I carry in my heart a song until the final sunset ray) and in the life to come. As the dove carries us upward, so also does the uplifting strength of music. Therefore, the closing refrain evolves into the final words: I'd find the peace of Heaven above. On wings of song, I'd take my rest.

On Wings of Song is dedicated to the memory of Stanley Curtis (1934-2020), friend, and Music Director of the Warwick Valley Chorale. Stanley devoted his life to music. Surely, his final journey was on the wings of song.
